"Life ain’t no Action Movie!"
This is a public service announcement . . .
A lot of young men on the Warrior Path get all fucked up by watching action heroes on television or reading cheap pulp novels. In these fantasy worlds, certain bad-assed muthafuckahs are presented as role models for these impressionable youngsters to emulate. Having a strong role model is all well and good, but these particular heroes exist only in the mind of some wussified, pudgy city-boy with uncallused hands and a wallet full of platinum cards. If he hasn’t lived the life, where do you think his ideas came from? I’ll tell you — simply from watching other fanciful movies! Think about it — don’t all action movies seem to follow the same basic pattern?
In your typical action movie, the heroic protagonist single-handedly slaughters hundreds of his enemies and escapes with the treasure/secret weapon/beautiful hostage unscathed (except for a wee bloody boo boo), only to come back later to accomplish yet another impossible mission in a sequel! This is totally ludicrous.
In real life, one man cannot mow down hundreds of people with impunity unless he happens to be firing on an unarmed village from a helicopter gunship. In real life, if thousands of rounds of ammunition (including rockets, mortars, and grenades) are being fired into your general vicinity, you are probably going to get torn up pretty bad. And in real life, impossible missions are just that . . . impossible. No sane tactician would knowingly engage a huge number of enemy troops behind enemy lines with no means of escape — unless, of course, he had brain cancer or something.
The truth is simply that "Life ain’t no Action Movie," and folks who think different are living in a fantasy world. As soon as they find themselves covered with their partner’s brains, trying to stuff their guts back in their open belly, or choking on poison gas, this fact will become abundantly clear. It is easy to get steered down a wrong path when you’re young — particularly if you’ve decided to become a "badass" — so, as a public service, we’re going to share with you the ugly truth about a few of the "action careers" which seem so glamorous to young fighting bucks nowadays. Hopefully, being presented with the hard facts will enable a few delusional dipshits to pull their heads out of their asses.
